Untitled-1DEB GREMMELS

Deb Gremmels has volunteered at Heritage Center since its doors opened five years ago.  After Deb retired in 2014, she wanted to reconnect with Dubuque and make new friends and found that through volunteering at Heritage Center. When asked what she most enjoys most about volunteering at Heritage Center, she said, “The SchoolBus performances. I love seeing the kids’ anticipation as they wait for the show to start and their excitement during the shows. The staff at Heritage Center has every detail planned. They are also so organized with getting the students in and out of the theater!” Her favorite shows so far at Heritage Center include Home Free and Paul Reiser. Other than volunteering, Deb enjoys walking, swimming, gardening, riding her ATV, and boating.

Daniels 3Wednesday, November 1, 2017 | 7:30 p.m.
Jeff Daniels and the Ben Daniels Band
JOHN AND ALICE BUTLER HALL

In 1976, Jeff Daniels bought a Guild D-40 from Herb David’s Guitar Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, threw it in the back of his old Buick, and moved to New York City. That guitar led to a creative outlet, became a solace, and was a road into the artist that he didn’t know existed. Now, over 40 years later, Jeff Daniels released his eighth record, Simple Truths. In his own words, the Emmy-award winning actor shares…“Well, mostly I act, write, play guitar, have authored about 400 songs, played over 300 gigs the past 12 years from Maine to Alaska to Californ-i-a, drank from the fountain of youth by touring with my son’s band, founded The Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Michigan, for which I’ve written 15 plays (working on number 16), and, with great pride and a range that would drive a normal actor straight to Betty Ford, have been seen most recently as Will McAvoy on HBO’s The Newsroom, and after 20 long years, with the one and only Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber To. The rest you can google.”

A free Cybercafé Knapp Stage Pre-Show Concert featuring Lost Lakes precedes this performance from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Lost Lakes is a collaboration between Corey Mathew Hart and Paul Mitch. The collaboration has grown over the years, developing into a strong songwriting and production team with a focus on well-crafted tunes and tight vocal harmonies.

Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile
BABKA THEATRE

Presented by the UD Department of Fine and Performing Arts and Drama Club

This long running Off-Broadway absurdist comedy by film and television star Steve Martin, places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transforms physics and the celebrated painter sets the art world afire. Martin plays it fast and loose with fact, fame and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century's achievements and prospects as well as other fanciful topics with infectious dizziness.
