Dan and Patricia FarnumDan and Patricia Farnum

Patricia has been volunteering at Heritage Center since the building opened in 2013, and she enjoys it so much that she convinced her husband, Dan, to volunteer for the last three years as well.  They say the best part of ushering is meeting the students and patrons that come see the show and helping them find their seats.  The couple’s favorite show at Heritage Center so far is Amazing Grace.  When not volunteering, Pat and Dan are frequently traveling, at the casino, or spending time with family and friends.

CHRISTMAS AT HERITAGE CENTER
Break Forth, O Beauteous Light:
An Evening of Lessons and Carols

JOHN AND ALICE BUTLER HALL

In its sixth year, UD’s Fine and Performing Arts Department celebrates the birth of Christ through this annual Advent concert presentation featuring the talents of the UD Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Women’s Choir, directed by Kristen Eby, assistant professor of music, and the Ken Kilian Brass Ensemble from Platteville, Wisconsin.  University of Dubuque president, Jeffrey F. Bullock, will narrate the evening. Titled Break Forth, O Beauteous Light: An Evening of Lessons and Carols, the concert will follow the traditional readings heard at the Christmas Eve service at King’s College in Cambridge, England. The narrative correlates directly with choral texts and instrumental pieces chosen to tell the story of Christ’s birth in a seamless performance. Selections will include new arrangements of holiday favorites such as “O Holy Night,” “Mary, Did You Know,” and “We Three Kings.”

Snowdate: Saturday, December 1, 2:00 p.m.

If you are unable to attend, watch the performance live on Facebook at Facebook.com/UDubuque, or hear broadcasts on KDTH (AM 1370) at 9:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and 1:00 p.m. Christmas Day.
