July Agency of the Month!

Founded in 1970 by Ed Compton and a small group of business men, The Las Vegas Rescue Mission began helping the homeless and hungry by providing them with sandwiches, drinks, mats and blankets. Now, forty years later their organization has grown and they have developed programs and paths to help people move from the streets to a brighter future.
They serve 800 meals a day and more than 40,000 food items are distributed each month to those in need. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission provides their clients with commodities, emergency shelter services, residential recovery programs, holiday food baskets and assistance to mothers and their babies. The organization also operates a thrift store which provides income to expand their services. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission staff and numerous volunteers dedicate their time and talents to move the work forward. The reward is the success of those they serve in finding a better way of life.

Opportunities for Agency Partners!
Three Square is being contacted by corporate groups coming into town, who are looking for places to volunteer. Last month we had a group partner with Centro Evangelistico Salem to build garden boxes and plant vegetables at the church. Other groups wanting to work with our Agency Partners are looking for hands on activities like painting, building shelves or building garden boxes. More information coming soon!
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The Three Square SNAP Outreach team is continuing to visit Agency Partner pantry sites and assisting food-insecure individuals and families with the application process. The below link includes a calendar which lists the site locations for the SNAP Outreach Team during the month of July. Please call the pantry sites to verify the times when Snap Outreach services are available. 9.3 Million Pounds Distributed!
Congratulations Agency Partners! We are excited to announce that with your help this year, we have been able to distribute 9.3 million pounds of food to people in need. Thank you for your assistance in feeding hungry people in our community.

 Three Square Bingo Fundraiser
Thank you to all that joined us at Red, White & Bingo! Last month's Bingo was sponsored by the Three Square Employee Committee and benefited the Summer Lunch League, a campaign designed to raise funds for children struggling with hunger during their summer break. We were able to raise $2,086 that was matched for a grand total of $4,172.
Please join us for Sock Hop Bingo on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in honor of our One Year Anniversary. We are encouraging everyone to dress in their favorite 50's attire!
