APRIL GREETINGS!

This month sees the kickoff of our exhibit season and we're beginning with the incredible figure paintings of Andre Kohn. The exhibit, titled "MOMENTS" features Kohn's ability to immortalize the small gestures and intimate moments we all share. As an observer of life and philosopher in paint, Kohn shares his sensitivity to the people and places that in our busy lives, we often overlook Giving monumentality to the miniscule and celebrating the ordinary are key to his paintings.

Born in Stalingrad, Andre Kohn spent the first 12 years of his life near the Caspian Sea in Baku before his family moved to Moscow. A promising young athlete, Kohn made the choice to pursue art, surrounding himself with books and reproductions of the masters. Eventually studying under Russian masters developed his love of and passion for art. Following his university education and a wildly successful solo exhibit in Bulgaria, Andre returned to the USSR where his paintings sold to collectors world-wide.
In 1992 he moved to Montgomery, Al and drew immediate attention for the quality and style of his work in his American debut. Since that first exhibition, Kohn's work have been featured in a number of solo and juried shows. Andre received his Bachelor's degree from Auburn University and is today living in Phoenix, Az. His originals can be found in private and corporate collections around the globe.........and yes, Wilmington!

ANOTHER SNEAK PEEK AT "SNAPSHOTS" OPENING IN MAY! Here are a few more of the small jewels that are going to be in the "Snapshots" exhibit opening in May and running through the end of June. Instead of a formal opening for "Snapshots", we are having ....all 6 Saturdays of the show.....refreshments all day long! FOUNTAINSIDE GALLERY ARTISTS NEWS! Fountainside Gallery artists Rick McClure and Sandy Nelson have been chosen by author Kimberlee Maselli to have their paintings featured in her coffee table book "Painting North Carolina". The book will be released in November and would make a great addition to your library. Each artist will have three of their works published in this beautiful volume. Rick McClure has also been chosen by Southwest Art magazine to be featured in their "Best Values" section in the June 2008 issue. His painting "Rural Impressions" will be in the magazine and can be seen on our website. Congratulations Rick! You will be noticing a few changes to our website in the next couple of weeks as we update and add to it. Art will be able to be seen larger and you will be able to log into a blog for collectors as we help you explore the world of acquiring art. Eventually there will be videos of our artists working and talking about their processes and loads of information about what is going on in the art world, both nationally and locally.
