Help Rainforest2Reef fight global warming

ImageOur new Selva Maya Carbon Offset Project is an innovative solution for climate change, poverty in rainforest communities, and biodiversity protection – but we need your help to realize its full potential.

The map (right) shows fires resulting from slash and burn agriculture destroying the Selva Maya at an alarming rate. Rainforest2Reef has signed binding agreements with the local communities in the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve to protect this valuable land from destruction, preventing millions of tons of carbon from entering the atmosphere.

The Selva Maya Carbon Offset Project, which we recently presented at the Carbon Footprint Consumer Products Summit in Chicago, is designed to offer our members a way to fight global warming with the highest quality carbon offset credits possible. Right now, Rainforest2Reef is in the process of quantifying and verifying our carbon with the Environmental Resources Trust and the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Alliance.

Rainforest2Reef needs your help to continue to develop this critical program. Please click here to contribute to our fight against global warming:

New film about tree nursery premieres at Taos Mountain Film Festival

ImageLast spring, Rainforest2Reef worked with the men, women, and children of ejido Pustunich, to create a tree nursery behind their school. This ejido is one of the communities which own rainforest land in the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, and the goal of our project was to support their guardianship of their rainforest home. Our heartwarming 8-minute documentary film about the project is titled “Guardians of the Selva Maya,” and it premiered this month at the Taos Mountain Film Festival.

The film has received an overwhelmingly positive response – and it was made possible by the support of people like you.

Rainforest2Reef partners with Salesforce.com Foundation

Rainforest2Reef is happy to announce a critical new partnership with the Salesforce.com Foundation. The Salesforce.com Foundation operates under Salesforce.com’s 1/1/1 Model- a commitment to deliver 1% Time, 1% Equity, and 1% Product to non-profit organizations. Through a generous grant from the Salesforce.com Foundation, in conjunction with a Google Adwords grant, Rainforest2Reef will more effectively communicate our important conservation work in the Calakmul region to a global audience.
