Opened by U.N. Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, on December 3, at UN Headquarters in New York, a briefing session for the delegates of the 137 signatory states of the Convention was jointly organized by G3ict and UNITAR, in cooperation with the Secretariat for the Convention and the Global Alliance for ICT and Development.
The seminar aimed to contribute to the rapid and effective implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in general and its digital accessibility agenda by:

As of December 15, 137 states around the world have signed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; 44 states have ratified it, including Sweden and the Republic of Korea.
