Set to launch in 2010, the Neighbourhood Arts Network is Toronto's first network dedicated to supporting art-making in neighbourhoods throughout the city. The Neighbourhood Arts Network will provide support and connect artists, arts organizations and community groups creating art at a local level.

We welcome groups and individuals working in any arts discipline, from any area of the city, whose interests or mandates embrace the idea of community engagement and accessibility of the arts.

We are pleased to offer free membership for 2010!  Look for the next bulletin to find out how to sign up!

Neighbourhood Arts Network Launch Party - mark January 27th on your calendars!

Come celebrate your community- the Neighbourhood Arts Network launch party is right around the corner! It's all going down at Harbourfront Centre in the Lakeside Terrace on January 27th from 5-7pm. Grab a bite to eat, network with artists and arts supporters, and celebrate this exciting new initiative!  With hosts Lisa Marie DiLiberto (Fixt Point Theatre) and local hip hop impresario Dan-e-o, performances by the Samba Kidz, interactive projects, the Davenport Perth Neighbourhood Centre's Green Here Video Project, video work from Arts4All, highlights from the new Best Buzz video series, guest speakers and a few surprises.

Share information about your                   community-engaged work at the Launch!

Are you a community artist or organization who would like to display information about your creative work in Toronto neighbourhoods?  There will be space available on a first-come, first-serve basis for the distribution of handbills, posters, flyers and other materials- please email frances@torontoarts.org or call 416 392 6802 x217 for more information or to sign up.

Introducing the new NAN coordinator - Skye Louis

SkyeLouis_Headshot.jpgSkye comes to NAN with tons of enthusiasm for community art-making and a background in arts administration.  She has worked on a variety of youth projects for Scarborough Arts Council and was the director of Community Arts Connect Project, an online resource serving community artists in Halifax. She recently completed a Masters in Library and Information Studies at Dalhousie University and is a firm believer in making public spaces accessible.  "I am thrilled to be joining the Network and supporting the variety and depth of community-engaged arts practice in our city!"  Welcome, Skye!
