Dear Friends,

We are happy to be back in Miami and hoping to take up our next assignment in Jamaica by next month.  We are still in the process of developing a few more partners in prayer and financial support but we are trusting the LORD to have us ready to go in July.  

Lucy’s faith and mine—by Billy

On its opening day in theaters, our family saw Prince Caspian  (the story from C.S. Lewis’ Narnia series).  I was struck by how much I saw myself in the older children, Peter, Susan and Edmond, who had trouble seeing Aslan, the great Lion.  “Why can’t we see,” they asked,. “He’s an incredibly huge Lion!”  Lucy with her childlike faith, was the only one who could see.  My faith that God is always present and involved in the details of our lives is often at odds with those nagging doubts.  I want Lucy’s faith, eyes always on HIM, completely dependent and making no pretense of being  otherwise.                                

Our friend Roger Smalling, uses this  to describe the way God often clears a path ahead of his workers.  One of our major hurdles, we thought, was finding housing in Jamaica that suited our needs and budget.  But, the LORD is working it all out!  A family that God is moving to FL at the same time He’s moving us to JA asked us to consider renting their home.  We will meet with them next week.  We are learning to worry less and listen more for the sound of the “Bulldozer.”

I enjoy telling other kids about Jamaica like the highest peak is Blue Mountain, 7,402 ft.  That’s pretty high!  But it doesn’t ever snow there. Also the snorkeling is fun.  You might think that because of the poverty that kids don’t go to school, but education is very important to them because they need good jobs when they grow up.
