As a special bonus, all $25 ticket buyers automatically become members of the River Alliance of Wisconsin! Tickets available now at both Madison-area Fontana Sports stores and the River Alliance office and at the Majestic Theatre box office on the night of the event, and online through Brown Paper Tickets. For more information, call 608.257.2424 x116. We also want to thank our Local Sponsors for the event: The Trek Bicycle Stores of Madison
In addition to 2 Marsupial fleeces, donated by Patagonia, 2 gift sets, assembled from items generously donated by PEMBAserves, will be included in the raffle.
It’s that time of year again when the conservation community storms the Capitol to make sure our legislators understand the importance of protecting and restoring Wisconsin’s natural resources. Our numbers have been growing every year and our voices are being heard – let’s build on that momentum and make sure our most important issues succeed.
Conservation Lobby Day will be Wednesday, February 25. The Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters is arranging meetings with every legislator – please RSVP by Friday, February 13 to ensure you’re on the list for yours. Click here for more information. Just a few In 2004, representatives of the Washburn County Lakes and Rivers Association attending “Superior Days” at the State Capitol raised the idea of designating the Totogatic River as a state Wild River to recognize and protect its remote beauty. A tributary to the Namekagon River within the St. Croix Wild and Scenic Riverway, the Totogatic flows 70 miles through five counties in Northwest Wisconsin: Bayfield, Sawyer, Washburn, Douglas and Burnett. Lands bordering the Totogatic River include substantial state and county holdings, as well as privately owned lands. The counties traversed by the Totogatic and the residents living nearby have voiced support for the designation. We are very excited to report that Senator Jauch and Representative Nick Milroy are now forwarding legislation to designate the Totogatic as Wild. Please contact your legislators soon and ask them to co-sponsor and support LRB 0142/5. For contact information for your legislators, go to: http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/w3asp/waml/waml.aspx.
