Dear Friends,

HHI experienced a great period of growth during the spring and we would like to update you with all the exciting details.

2572017554_857d1ab79c_m.jpg Events: HHI's 2008 Golf Outing

We are thrilled to announce that our Golf Outing Fundraiser on June 11th was a great success (see pictures here). Over 60 golfers participated, and thanks to Roberta Peterson and Tiger Woods, we had a nice autographed flag (signed by Tiger himself) that helped to raise more funds for HHI's work with disadvantaged children. You can read more about it at our HHI Blog.

Read more about the touching stories of HHI's journey at the following blog entries:

  • Love the Baby.  Read how HHI's communications officer Liz Kimmerly realized HHI's very universal and spiritual significance after reflecting on a trip she took to a Hindu temple in Malibu, California.
  • HHI in Budapest Laura blogs about HHI's invitation to present our work at the International Step by Step Association's (ISSA) conference this October in Budapest, Hungary. The ISSA is an innovative network of early childhood education and development professionals and organizations. This year's conference focus is Active Citizenship: Democratic Practices in Education, and it is organized in partnership with the World Forum Foundation.
  • Love is the Answer  Liz blogs about an episode from This American Life called "Unconditional Love" which is all about childhood bonding and its significance in America,  and relates it to the message of HHI's work.
  • Honoring Mothers  In April HHI Trainer, Sujatha, went on a one-woman-power-tour of training. She went village to village leading HHI Trainings to 108 mothers, pregnant mothers-to-be and grandmothers. Women flocked to the trainings, bringing their babies and children to be a part of the learning and sharing.
  • More Than 10,000 Children In April, HHI crossed an amazing threshold; we have now served over 10,000 children. To be exact, HHI has trained 1,222 women - orphanage caregivers, pre-school teachers, creche center workers, village mothers and grandmothers - who are now providing more nurturing and attentive care to 10,258 babies and children!!! Considering that in the most challenging of environments of orphanages, that Hands to Hearts' support has literally meant the difference of life and death, this is an astounding impact!
