Hi Colin,
Welcome to the latest Hire On-Demand eBriefing. This monthly newsletter provides a snapshot of current SaaS-based hiring trends, featured topics, and practical information we hope you find helpful.
Featured Topic:
Q. How do I make the most of my Dreamforce visit? (Not attending Dreamforce? Read on, as Hire On-Demand can be your personal eyes on the ground.)
A. Whether this is your first or fifth Dreamforce, it is always an exciting time to witness the culmination of the entire Software-as-a-Service community. There are endless opportunities for collaboration, and for seeing the latest innovations first-hand - as many key announcements are made during Dreamforce week. With so much information flowing from so many directions, a little bit of planning can go a long way to making the most of the event. Below are some tools and ideas for a successful Dreamforce:
- Sessions. With over 200+ sessions to choose from, it is helpful to understand what is offered in advance. If you haven't already, check out the agenda. Here you can view offerings-filtered by category (ie, Administrators, Force.com platform for Developers, Sales Operations, etc). Note, that a built in tool allows you to easily create your own agenda and print it.
- Certification. As you may know, Salesforce.com recently announced a new program for Administrators and Force.com Developers to become officially certified. If you are interested in getting certified at Dreamforce, there are still exam seats available! Alternatively, Salesforce is conducting a roadshow and will be offering Certification prior to Dreamforce- remaining cities are Chicago, DC and New York.
- 1:1 Success Clinics. This is an opportunity to talk one-on-one with an expert about your specific Salesforce.com instance. Get online together and get your questions answered. Located in the main campground in the exhibitor hall, sign up early for a slot as this is a popular offering.
- Hack-a-thon. Force.com Developers and SaaS entrepeneurs will have a unique opportunity to innovate hands-on, with Salesforce.com's top developers on hand to offer guidance. Monday Night Hackathon
- Exhibitor Hall. 100+ companies will be demonstrating their products/services designed to maximize the Salesforce.com experience. This is a great way to stay ahead of the curve on the latest offerings. You may want to review exhibitors in advance in order to prioritize. (Once registered, you can view all participants.)
- Volunteer. Each year, Salesforce offers a volunteer event the Saturday preceding the event. If you are local or arriving early, consider signing up. Not only is it a great way to
do something good for the community, it is a great way to meet other
Salesforce customers and to pick up some new ideas. (Details available online after registering.)
- Have fun! Salesforce.com knows how to throw a great party. Journey will be performing at Monday night's gala event. This is a great way to enjoy yourself and network with users across the globe at the same time.

Tech Tip!
We asked for contributions and you responded! Our selected Tech Tip this month comes from David Franklin of Austin, TX. Thank you, David!!
Q. "When creating email templates within Salesforce.com, is there an easier way to convert my text to HTML?"
A. Yes! "When creating email templates within Salesforce.com, you have 3 options: Text, HTML or Custom. HTML is important for email tracking, but going through the process to generate the HTML can be cumbersome and time consuming. There is a little secret in salesforce that allows easy HTML coding:
- Setup-->Customize-->Self-Service-->Self Service Portal-->Settings
- Select Edit on one of the Page sections (Header/Footer,etc)
- Type in your text and then select the checkbox "Show HTML" (see below)
- Copy the HTML code and now go create your HTML email! "

As firms become increasingly focused on environmentally friendly
strategies, sourcing executives should make sure to consider the green
value of software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions when considering how IT
aligns with corporate agendas on sustainability.
