Legacy Medical Centers Promote Healthy Living
Farmers are taking over the Stenzel Healing Garden at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center this summer with fresh fruits and vegetables of all sizes and colors. Locally owned Thompson Farms has joined with Legacy Health, a leader in garden therapy and sustainability, to promote locally grown foods and healthy lifestyle choices. The farm stands are open to Legacy employees, patients and community members fostering a natural partnership in the community, according to Larry Thompson, owner of Thompson Farms. The farm’s devotion to sustainable and healthy growing practices means all 145 acres and 55 crops are grown without pesticides, insecticides or fungicides. “Legacy has long had a commitment to sustainability. The idea of bringing Thompson farm stands to our campuses helps us keep that commitment,” said John Reid, Legacy’s Senior Director of Environment of Care. “Everyone wins in this equation: the farmers have a customer eager for their products, and the customers get great local produce in a convenient location.” The Pearl District is home to some of the best Health and Wellness Providers in the city: Allergy, Asthma & Dermatology Associates Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital Pearl Health Center & Healing Garden
