Five Simple Ways to De-stress and Have a Healthy, Happy Holiday
Exercise Daily: Walking, biking or running all provide excellent aerobic exercise. If you prefer, Pilates or Yoga can serve as wonderful mind-body exercises. Try to do something daily even if for only 15 minutes. Physical activity restores harmony to your mind and body and helps you get perspective on your day. Many times the things that bother us the most melt away after a little exercise and this results in a more positive outlook. Making exercise plans with a friend is a great way to motivate and better enjoy your time.
Spend some time outside: When it is raining or cold we often stay inside when what we need most is to get outside and get some fresh air. Frequently indoor air contains toxic components that can result in your feeling tired, dull and less energetic. It is amazing how outdoor air can alter mood and change perspective. Break out that raincoat!
Breathe Deeply: Conscious breathing exercises are a simple but effective way to restore energy and take control of your habits. Notice your breathing while you are driving in your car, stopped at a light or waiting in line. Take a deep breath in and expand your ribcage, slowly letting the breath out for 5 counts or more. Imagine the breath descending your spine running down your legs to your feet. It is amazing how grounding and calming this simple exercise can be!
Find Solitude: We all need some time alone whether it is curled up on your favorite couch with a book, meditating, walking on the beach or watching the waves. We all need some quiet time to reflect on ourselves and life. It can literally renew and recharge your battery!
Finally, join a class that motivates you or inspires you to work out! At Geometry we offer Mat Pilates and Gyrokinesis® classes that will leave you feeling re-energized!
Beginner Pilates Mat Classes: Tuesday at 5:15 pm, Thursday at 7am and 7pm and Saturday 12 pm. Gyrokinesis® meets Saturday at 9 am.
Please call to reserve your spot!
