"Big Day!" on September
15, 2009
|
|
It's a "Big Day!" at Danamark WaterCare on Tuesday Sept. 15th as we give back to the community.
On the anniversary of the passing of our founder, Robin S. Howlings, 10% of the net value of every order placed with us, will be set aside towards the donation of drinking water systems to various charitable organizations across Canada.
We would be grateful for your support.

DanaStats: Canada’s Stand on Water as a Human Right
|
|
The right to safe water and sanitation is included in a number of international
treaties and conventions. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights guaranteed all
people to a standard of living adequate to their wellbeing. The United Nations Committee
on economic, Social and Cultural Rights also adopted the right to health, and specifically
recognized water as an independent right.
While the right to water sounds intuitive and supported by all people, it has political
and legal implications.

Issues of WaterCare: Chlorine Use by Municipal Water Systems
|
|
Chlorine is widely used by municipal water systems to disinfect water from bacteria,
viruses and other microorganisms that cause diseases. Many Diseases such as
typhoid fever and cholera, have virtually been wiped out because of chlorine use.
Despite its usefulness in disinfecting drinking water, there are problems associated
with chlorine. Its use can cause aesthetic water quality problems like a swimming
pool taste and odour.

Techi-Tips: Sand Filters
|
|
Nature has provided a simple way for water filtration. This technique filters surface
water as it percolates through aquifers. This process has been adopted for raw water
filtration in what is known as sand filters.
